Founded in 1986, the Family Firm Institute (FFI) is an international professional body dedicated to providing interdisciplinary education and networking opportunities for family business and family wealth advisors, educators, and researchers and to increasing public awareness about developments in the family business and family wealth fields.  Its publication, Family Business Review, is the first scholarly journal in the field.  The leading position of the journal is recognized by Reuters as the 'Rising Star' in Business in 2011.

Our Center is an Education Center of FFI GEN courses.  Our Center is also granted an 'International Award' by FFI in 2013.


The Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices (STEP) project is a global research consortium originated from Babson College, USA. Introducing the subject of family enterprising, Babson College and its Institute for Family Enterprising drew a group of leading business schools and entrepreneurship and family business scholars together to investigate transgenerational entrepreneurship in family business under a common research framework and methodology. The STEP project was launched in Asia-Pacific in 2007.

Our University is a founding institution of the STEP Asia Pacific Chapter.


The Business Families Institute at the Singapore Management University (BFI @ SMU) is an initiative to develop strong and successful business families by providing thought leadership to advance the study of business families in Asia. BFI @ SMU is a business families centric institute, focused on educational, engagement and research platforms to facilitate Asia-based business families to develop and leverage their financial and family capital across generations. BFI @ SMU facilitates business families to Think Generations, Think Growth, and Think Giving.

Our Center signed an MOU with BFI @ SMU on 22 August 2013 to further collaboration on business-family education, engagement, and research initiatives in Asia and for Asia.


   

FBN Asia is a regional chapter of FBN International, the world’s leading network of business owning families.  A not-for-profit organization, the network is ‘by families and for families’. Its vision is to create a vibrant community of family businesses that serves as a model of sustainability.  A platform for all members of the family business eco-system, it aims to bring progressive family businesses and thought leaders together to cultivate an environment of shared learning to effect positive change.

Our Center signed an MOU with FBN Academy, an initiative under FBN Asia, to further research, knowledge creation, and training in the field of family business on 11 October 2013.
